Nuapada: In a shocking incident, an elderly man was hammered to death on suspicion of practicing sorcery at Kharseipada under Komana police limits.
The deceased has been identified as Daitari Majhi (65), a resident of the area.
According to reports, Majhi had been living alone in a hut at his farmland after being ostracised by his fellow villagers on suspicion of practicing sorcery.
On being informed, Komana police reached the spot and found Majhi’s body lying in a pool of blood Thursday noon. His body was sent for post-mortem.
It is suspected that Majhi was beaten to death with a hammer by some unknown person Wednesday night.
The investigation into the case is on and we will nab the accused soon, said a police official.
