Man held, 260 grams brown sugar seized in Nayagarh

Nayagarh: Acting on a tip-off, a special task force (STF) of the state police seized 260 grams of brown sugar and arrested a drug peddler in this district Friday night.

On being informed, a team of STF raided the Ranapur-Sunakhala road under Ranapur police limits of Nayagarh district and detected a case of illegal trade of the banned substance going on  in the area. A person identified as Prakash Chandra Behera of Baunsia village was arrested after brown sugar weighing 260 grams was seized from his possession.

A case under Section 21 (C) of NDPS Act 1985 was registered against Behera at Ranapur Police station.

Notably, the STF has conducted raids at various places against drug peddling during last one month and detected five cases. The STF team has arrested four persons and seized a total of 2 kg and 812 grams of brown sugar and 2000 kg of ganja and other incriminating materials from the possession of the accused.
