Man held for trying to poach wild boar in Angul

Angul: A person was arrested for allegedly trying to poach a wild boar at Gaham village under Talcher forest range in Angul district Saturday night.

The arrested has been identified as Meghanad Pradhan.

According to reports, some local villagers had laid live electric wires to poach wild boars at the jungle.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of forest officials led by Talcher forest ranger raided the spot and arrested Meghanad. However, other villagers who were involved in the poaching activity fled the spot.

They also seized the electric wires and other items used for poaching.

The forest personnel have started an investigation.
