Phulnkhara: A motorcyclist sustained severe injuries after a speeding truck hit him from rear near Balikuda on Cuttack-Bhubaneswar National Highway-16 Thursday.
The victim, Sagar Senapati, 22, a resident of Pratapnagari in Cuttack Sadar police limits, was rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack where his condition was stated to be critical, a Cuttack Sadar police official said.
According to eyewitnesses, the mishap occurred around 2pm when Senapati was travelling near Balikuda traffic post. “A speeding truck hit the bike from the rear. The collision was so intense that the man, along with his two-wheeler (OR-05-AE-4589), was flown several metres up in the air, resulting in multiple injuries to Senapati,” said an eyewitness. Police recovered the mangled motorcycle.
“Efforts are on to track down the errant truck and its driver,” a Cuttack Sadar police official said.
