Bolangir: In a shocking incident, a man was allegedly beaten to death by his in-laws at Chabripali village under Khaprakhol police limits in Bolangir district following a heated brawl late Wednesday night. The deceased was identified as Rudra Meher, 38, of Gadabhati village under Padampur police limits in Bargarh district.
Acting on a complaint lodged by the deceased’s brother Khageswar Meher, police registered a case and arrested four of his in-laws’ family including his wife. The accused were identified as father-in-law Uddhab Meher, 55, motherin-law Banalata Meher, 50, wife Sarojini Meher, 32, and brother-in-law Sunil Kumar Meher, 19.
According to reports, Rudra had married Sarojini Meher of Chabripali 10 years back while a family dispute was prevailing between the two after the marriage.
Subsequently, Sarojini came to her parent’s place and started residing there. The deceased is survived by two minor children. Rudra had come to his in-laws’ house to take Sarojini with him but an argument ensued between him and his in-laws last night. The matter turned ugly as his inlaws beat him to death. The accused packed the body in a sack and were taking it in a van for disposal when villagers intercepted the vehicle and informed the police. Searching the van, police found the body. The body was handed over to the deceased family members after a postmortem. Further investigations are on
