Man killed in Balasore, tension grips area

Remuna (Balasore): Tension ran high in Saanta village under Khantapada police limits of Balasore district after the mutilated body of a man was recovered from a bush nearby.

The deceased has been identified as Amulya Behera (40), a native of Saanta.

His blood-soaked body was found in a bush, about 100 metres from the village. On intimation by villagers, police reached the village, recovered the body and sent for autopsy. A probe has also been initiated in this context.

The incident spread tension in the area as locals staged a road blockade this morning demanding the immediate arrest of the accused. Relatives of the deceased burnt tyres and staged a demonstration.

Leaders of many political parties reached the spot and tried to pacify the mob. Tension, however, continues to run high in the area till the time of filing this report.

According to the police, preliminary probe and circumstantial evidence proved that it was a pre-planned murder. The accused had first killed the person in a separate place and later dumped the body near the village before fleeing the spot.

The exact cause behind the act is yet to be established.

Amulya had been to attend to some personal work Wednesday. His family members, however, grew apprehensive after he did not return back till late in the night and was nowhere to be found.
