Tihidi: Unable to bear his daughter’s move to get married against his wish, a 51- year-old man allegedly committed suicide by jumping in front of a train on Bhadrak-Dhamra railway track near Kandapur village under Tihidi police station limits in Bhadrak district late Friday night, police said.
The deceased was identified as Hemanta Kumar Rout, a resident of Kandapur village. Villagers said he took the drastic step after his daughter married a person without his wish.
As per reports, Hemant’s wife departed some years ago. After his wife’s death, he was taking care of his three daughters alone. Out of his three daughters, one has left home and residing at Bhadrak.
Shocked over the news of his elder daughter’s marriage to a person Friday without his wish, the man got severely depressed and killed himself by jumping in front of a train late Friday night.
Locals came to know about the incident around 4am Friday and informed police.
On being informed police reached the spot, seized the body and initiated an investigation into the incident.
Police after registering a case of unnatural death sent the body for post-mortem Saturday morning.
