Sundargarh: A man allegedly killed his wife and then died by suicide at at Damakuda village under Talasara police station in Sundargarh district, police said Wednesday. After talking to the neighbours of the deceased police suspect the deaths to be a fall out of a family dispute. They said that the bodies of Hemanta Dandasena and his wife were recovered from their house Wednesday and added that the incident had taken place late Tuesday night. Police are investigating the matter and a forensic team has also been pressed into service.
Locals have informed that police that the two always had heated arguments and that finally may have led to their untimely demise.
Locals informed that Hemanta had tied the nuptial knot with his wife a year ago. After marriage, Hemanta had gone outside Odisha to work as a migrant worker in Chennai, sources said. They added that Hemanta had returned home during Holi and the couple soon started living in a rented place following a feud with the woman’s in-laws.
Locals informed that both were working in a nearby brick kiln to earn their living and had also gone to the workplace Tuesday. That was the last time the two were seen, the other residents of the village added. However, after that their lifeless bodies were recovered.
Police said that as per the initial stages of investigation it seems that Hemanta and his wife had an altercation in the night. During the argument, Hemanta lost his cool and in a fit of rage smothered his wife to death with the help of a pillow. He then died by suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling of the house.
