Kesinga: In a gruesome incident, a man of Deogaon village under Kesinga police limits in Kalahandi district killed his wife accusing her of not delivering a baby boy even after 17 years of their marriage.
Though, the accused identified as Uchhab Luhar murdered his wife Sukeshi about 45 days back, it came to light Sunday. Luhar also buried the body on the riverbed on the day of his second marriage, a bid to get his male successor.
The remains of the body were recovered from the riverbed during investigation by police Saturday morning.
According to reports, Luhar had married Sukeshi 17 years ago and the couple has a 15-year-old daughter. However, he had been in depression for not getting his legal heir as Sukeshi couldn’t gift him a son. So, he decided to marry another woman Tarini to get a son. While Luhar tied the knot with Tarini June 16, incidentally Sukeshi had gone missing from that day. However, no one noticed it since the marriage function was in progress.
Later, the villagers noticed the incident and informed Sukeshi’s mother Roche Parabhoi of Goipita village under Bhawanipatna Sadar police limits about it. The latter filed a complaint with Utkela police outpost and approached the police along with a few women’s group members seeking justice.
During investigation, Kesinga police found that Sukeshi was killed and her body buried on the bed of Reta river.
Police recovered the skeletal remains of the deceased July 28 morning and detained six persons including Uchhab for interrogation in this connection.
