Man kills wife, her lover over extramarital affairs

Balasore:  In a gruesome incident, a married woman and a youth were found in a pool of blood inside a house at Ranipatna Bank Colony under Sahadevkhunta police limits here Tuesday.

The deceased were identified as Laxmipriya Sahu, 33, and Pradeep Dey, 45, of Durgadevi under Sahadevkhunta police limits. Police have detained Kailash on charges of murdering his wife.

Although the exact reason behind the incident is yet to be ascertained, locals and cops suspect that Kailash might have killed the duo over extra-marital affair.

Meanwhile, the accused has surrendered before the police.

Laxmipriya was working with a voluntary organisation. She had married Kailash 12 years ago. However, Kailash had been suspecting her fidelity.

The couple frequently quarrelled over the woman’s integrity, police added.

Meanwhile, police have sent the two bodies for postmortem.

It is suspected that Kailash might have killed the duo after finding two sharing a bed in his absence the previous night.

Police along with a scientific team rushed to the spot for investigation.

The two could have been bludgeoned to death with an iron rod in their sleep Monday night, said Subhransu Nayak, Inspector in Charge of Sahadevkhunta police station. “The police, aided by a forensic team, are on the spot and inquiry is on, he said adding the motive and other details of the case can be known only after the investigation got over,” he added.

Crime Branch DSP Sudarsan Das said, “After the PCR received an input that two bodies were found from a room in Ranipatna bank colony, we rushed to the spot. Later we detained Kailash suspecting his involvement.”
