Police nabs accused Kishori

Talagao: A man axed his wife to death over a minor issue here in Boudh district, Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Dullabha Naik (37) of Gandapaju village under Talagaon panchayat of Harbhanga block.

As per the report, Dullabha requested her husband Kishori to go to the forest to bring bamboo so that she could make some handicraft items, as the couple makes a living by selling these crafts. However, the latter was reluctant, and an argument broke out between the two over the issue.

Kishori suddenly lost his cool and assaulted his wife with an axe. Dullabha died on the spot.

Spotting the event, some villagers tried to overpower Kishori but failed. Later, they informed the police.

A team led by SDPO S Barala, Purunakatak IIC Jyotshna Kaunri, and Adenigarh police outpost in-charge Brahmananda Pradhan reached the spot and arrested the accused.

Police seized the murder weapon and the body, which was sent to Boudh DHH for post-mortem. A murder case was registered.

The couple has a 17-year-old daughter and an 11-year-old son. The villagers demanded assistance from the administration for the children who became helpless following the incident.
