Man lynched, hung upside down from tree for attacking woman in Odisha’s Malkangiri district

Malkangiri: A man was allegedly lynched and his body was hung upside down from a tree after being accused of attacking a neighbouring woman in Korukonda area of Malkangiri district, a source said Thursday.

The deceased man was identified as Deba Madkami from Korukonda area.

According to the source, Deba had allegedly assaulted the woman with a sharp weapon after which the latter sustained critical injuries. However, the reason behind the attack has not been ascertained yet.

Following the incident, the irate family members and relatives of the woman allegedly thrashed Deba to death. Following the lynching, they allegedly hooked him upside down in a tree.

The injured woman has been under medical care at a hospital in Kalimela.

On being informed, police reached the spot and launched an investigation into the incident. Cops have arrested four persons in this connection.
