Man puts his girlfriend up for sale on eBay, her price reached £70,000

Whether you’re selling old clothes, furniture or collector’s items, eBay is the perfect place to make some extra cash or snap up a bargain.

But one man took a practical joke a little too far, when he decided to list his GIRLFRIEND on the popular bidding site.

34-year-old Dale Leeks from Essex decided to advertise his partner of 12 months, 37-year-old Kelly Greaves as a prank.

Comparing Kelly to an old car, Dale warned bidders that she “starts ok but after a while there’s a constant whining noise that I can’t seem to stop”.

“Bodywork is fairly tidy but close up shows signs of wear (I’m just being honest),” Dale continued.

“No serious damage but you can tell that she’s been used.”

Dale also revealed: “First thing in the morning she can be very temperamental, once warmed up the wining noise lessens but I would be lying if I said it goes away completely.

“Any offers considered…would be interested in a part exchange with a younger model.”

Although meant as a harmless joke, the ad was viewed over 8,000 times in just 24 hours with the highest bid reaching over £70,000.

Dale, who is a landscape gardener, said: “After I put it on eBay I just kept laughing about it and she asked what I was laughing about.

“I told her I’d put her up for sale on eBay and was like, ‘gotcha’.

“But we went out for dinner that evening and I was being bombarded by messages from all over Europe, and places as far away as America and Australia.

“I kept looking over the table at her but I wasn’t really telling her the scale it had gone.

“But from there it just majorly spiralled out of control. The bids started going mad.

“I was like, ‘Wow, what have I done?'”
