Bargarh: An Odia jawan from Assam Rifles was killed in an accident while he was patrolling in Nagaland, a source said Sunday.
The deceased jawan was identified as Nilachal Patel from Baghapali village in Odisha’s Bargarh district.
According to the source, the vehicle in which Nilachal was travelling met with an accident Friday.
The source added that the mortal remains of Nilachal are expected to reach his village Monday.
Nilachal was commissioned into service back in 2004.

Notably, another Odia jawan recently lost his life outside the state. CRPF jawan Sushant Khuntia lost his life during an operation against Maoists in Jharkhand’s West Singhbhum district. The body of Khuntia was consigned to flames Saturday at his native place near Anandapur in Keonjhar district with state honours.
Upon arrival in Anandapur, the body was taken to the cremation ground accompanied by a vast gathering of people. The funeral of Khuntia was also attended by numerous prominent figures from the region.
