Bhubaneswar: A day after his suspension, constable Prasanna Behera was arrested for operating a bar illegally. His bar is the one that journalist Navin Das’ son Manish Anurag visited before his murder.

During investigation, police came to know that the South City bar was being run without a valid license and in violation of Covid-19 guidelines. It was operated by constable Behera, who is the president of Havildar and Constable Association. During the investigation, it was found that the license of the bar had already expired.

The Commissionerate Police also arrested the owner of Hotel South City Pradyumna Jena and bar manager Souvik Jena for violating Covid-19 guidelines.

Earlier, the Commissionerate Police had transferred Tamando police station IIC Pramod Patnaik and suspended constable Prasanna Behera for operating the bar illegally.

Notably, in connection with Manish Anurag murder case, the Commissionerate Police have arrested Amrit Pritam Biswal, Dinesh Mohapatra and Mrutyunjay Mishra.

The trio along with Anurag had gone to South City bar at Bhagabanpur village under Tomando police limits. Later, they had a bitter fight over footing the bill. Amrit, Dinesh and Mrutyunjay attacked Manish leading to his death. In a bid to destroy evidence, they dumped the body in a village pond. His body was found floating in the pond next morning.
