Bhubaneswar, June 15: Manish Kumar with six points emerged joint leader along with three others in the boys’ category after the completion of the seventh round of the U-19 Chess Championships at Ahmedabad, Monday.
Manish outwitted V Pranav in a close game. The other Orissa players in fray, Prasmit Prayanshu overcame Aathis B Shetty and Aditya Anurakta Mohanty prevailed over Yatharth Jain. They are now in joint fourth position with 4.5 points.
In the girls’ segment, Miracle Panda is currently joint third with five points in her kitty after she defeated Yash Jyoti Bir easily. In another match, P Sairupa played out a tame draw with R Vidya Sambhavi. However Bijaylaxmi Barik lost her second match in succession when she was outplayed by Adreeja Sinha.
Kabaddi tourney
Haryana, Chandigarh, Maharashtra Police and UP won their respective matches in the men’s category while MP, Pipli and Cuttack won their respective matches Monday in the women’s segment of the 60th All India Kabaddi tournament at Khanditara, Jajpur.
