Man’s death in road accident triggers tension at Jharsuguda hospital

Jharsuguda: Tension erupted at the district headquarters hospital here after the death of a person in a road accident Wednesday afternoon.

The deceased identified as Bikash Kumar Barik (29) of Brajarajnagar, an employee of Aditya Aluminum in Sambalpur, was on his way from Jharsuguda to Sambalpur with one of his friends.

Bikash and his friend fell off the scooter after the former who was driving the two-wheeler lost control over the wheels.

Meanwhile, a truck coming from behind ran over Bikash and he died on the spot. His friend sustained minor injuries.

Police sent the body to the hospital. Tension prevailed on the hospital premises after some of his colleagues and family members reached the hospital and protested.

Bikash’s colleagues and family members alleged that he was under severe mental stress as he was recently ousted from his company. They held the company responsible for the incident.

Meanwhile, they also demanded compensation for the kin of the deceased from the company.

 

Normalcy was restored after the company assured a compensation of Rs 10 lakh and a job for the deceased’s wife.
