Bolangir: A Maoist leader has released an audio tape threatening revenge on police for killing two of their cadres in Bolangir district earlier this month. In the audio tape, Maoist leader Basant accused the police of exploiting tribals and warned of revenge also on police informers.
Two members of the outlawed Communist Party of India (Maoist), Sanjeev and Rakesh, were killed near Dudukamal under Belpada block in Bolangir district May 12. Sanjeev, a divisional committee member (DCM) had carried a cash reward of Rs 5lakh while Area Committee Member (ACM) Rakesh had a bounty of Rs 4lakh on his head.
The combing operation is seen as a major success even though some rebels managed escape in the darkness. A meeting was held at the DGP Camp office hereMonday to chalk out anti-Maoist strategies. A coordination meeting will be held June 8 to intensify the anti-Maoist operations across the state, sources said.
