Maoist posters calling poll boycott surface in Paikmal

Paikmal: Fresh Maoist posters and banners surfaced in front of Bindhyabasini inspection bungalow at Paikmal area in Bargarh district Wednesday.

Following a landmine explosion in Chhattisgarh which had claimed five jawans and a BJP MLA, security has been beefed in the area. Combing operation has intensified to prevent any untoward situation. Maoists have shifted their camp to Gandhamardhana hill.

In one of the posters, the BBM divisional committee of Maoists has urged people to boycott Lok Sabha and Assembly polls for issues like farmer suicide in Bargarh district, distribution of water to 49 companies from Hirakud dam and zero compensation to displaced people for Debrigad Reserve Pujaripalli Yojana.

The rebels also appealed people to form ‘government of revolutionaries’ through the posters. The Maoists also opposed political leaders and threatened them of dire consequences, if any leader from the three major political parties visits the region seeking votes.

Getting the news, police rushed to the spot and seized the posters and banners.  An anti-landmine vehicle was found patrolling in Paikmal area.
