Maoist’s bandh evokes mixed response

Malkangiri: The bandh call given by Malkangiri-Koraput-Visakhapatnam Border (MKVB) divisional committee of the outlawed CPI (Maoist) to protest against Polavaram project and Gurupriya Setu evoked mixed response Friday.

Barring the government buses plying from Malkangiri to Motu, Kalimela and Chitrokonda, the other vehicular movement continued unaffected.

The MKVB divisional committee of the outlawed CPI (Maoist) alleged that the inauguration of Gurupriya Setu that connects cut-off areas has an ulterior motive of giving away the mineral deposits to the foreign companies. Similarly, the dalits, tribals, poor and marginalised people of the region will become more poor and landless due to the Polavaram project.
