Maoist’s body recovered; arms, Red articles seized

Malkangiri: Body of a Maoist along with a huge cache of Red items was recovered during the two-day combing operation conducted by security forces in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh along the border of Malkangiri district Monday. As per reports, an exchange of fire occurred between the Maoists and the security forces inside Potenar forest under Bheramgarh police limits in Bijapur district, Saturday.

No security personnel was injured in the crossfire but later during the combing operation, the body of an unknown Maoist cadre along with a cache of arms, ammunition, and Mao articles was seized. A rifle, six rounds of unused bullets, cordtex wire, gelatin sticks, fuse wire, Maoist uniforms, articles, and other items were seized from the spot. After returning from the combing operation, the jawans said that there might be three to four casualties as they noticed blood and marks of bodies being dragged on the forest ground. However, Bastar IG Sundarraj P informed that the body of the Maoist recovered during combing operation has not yet been identified. Investigation to get the details is underway, he added.
