Notably, a Maoist camp was busted in the jungle near Lengiramunda village in Chakapada block in Kandhamal district January 8. Acting on a tip-off, SOG and BSF jawans and District Voluntary Force (DVF) teams had carried out a joint operation in the jungle.

They had had an exchange of fire with the Maoists and it continued for nearly half an hour till the Ultras turned tail and escaped into the jungle. Kandhamal SP Vineet Agrawal had then informed that grenades, detonators, splinters, explosives, wires, medicine, clothes and literature were seized.
