Malkangiri: A poster in the name of a banned Maoist organisation appeared here Friday in a protest against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Odisha Saturday. The poster was found on a tree near Kalimela in Malkangiri district.
The south sub-zonal bureau of the banned Communist Party of India (Maoist) alleged in the poster that PM Modi did not want development in Odisha. The Maoists also called for a bandh in five states including Odisha. In view of the protest, the government has issued a high alert on the border region of Malkangiri district.
PM Modi is scheduled to visit Odisha Saturday for a public rally marking the completion of four years of the NDA government. He would address the public at Bali Jatra Ground in Cuttack. The Opposition Congress party has decided to stage a demonstration against the BJP government during Modi’s visit.
Elaborate security arrangements will be made by the commissionerate police for Modi’s visit in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. According to reports, 100 platoons of police forces will be deployed for the security of the Prime Minister.
