Maoists set passenger bus on fire, thrash staff

Mathili: Maoists torched a bus and thrashed its staff at Mundaguda near Mathili in Malkangiri district Monday night.

According to reports, a gang of 25 to 30 Maoists stopped the bus, which was heading from Mahupadar to Motu at Mundaguda.

They set the bus on fire after telling the passengers to get down.

Asking the driver and the conductor as to why they had driven bus during the ‘Pratibad Saptaha (Protest Week)’, which is being observed January 25 to 31, the Maoists then beat up both. They then fled the spot after taking the mobile phones of the driver and conductor, sources said.
