Barbil, Dec 2: On the backfoot due to the ongoing combining operations in the forested parts of neighbouring Jharkhand, scores of Maoists have reportedly sneaked into Kolhapanduli forest at Dhanurjaypur under Barbil police limits.

Locals say about 80 Left-wing ultras have escaped through Kiriburu-Meghahatuburu forest of Jharkhand. It is reported that they have, for the past one week, carried out several meetings with villagers who are deeply worried and apprehend untoward incidents.

The Maoists urged people to join the extremist path. The security forces deployed in Barbil are well aware of the Maoist intrusion in the area.

Contacted, Pradip Kumar Ghose, the assistant commandant of the 64th Battalion of CRPF at Barbil, said that they have information about the Maoists’ movement in the area, but have no idea about the ultras camping there.

Bolani IIC Madhabananda Nayak said that about 15 to 20 rebels are holed up in the jungle in Jharkhand side.

He added that the Maoists themselves have not come to Koljhapanduli village, but have sent two local boys to purchase provisions from grocery shops and to invite people for meetings.
