Malkangiri: Police Wednesday arrested a married man on the charge of raping and impregnating a minor divyang girl on the pretext of marriage here in this district.
Police on the orders of SP swung into action and made the arrest, based on a complaint lodged by the victim’s family members.
According to sources, the girl being a divyang used to stay at home while her family members went for work. Taking advantage, the man of the same locality lured her into a relationship on the promise of marriage. He did not reveal that he was already married and kept physical intimacy with the girl, impregnating her.
When she insisted him for marriage, he threatened her and was absconding since then. Learning that their daughter was pregnant, her family members informed police about the incident following which police constituted a special squad to nab the accused.
“A rape case was filed December 16. The survivor alleged that she became pregnant because the accused had physical relationship with her on the pretext of marriage,” Malkangiri SP, Jagmohan Meena said adding investigations revealed that the accused was already married.
“As soon as the case was registered, a special team was formed to nab the absconding accused. We arrested the accused today,” the Malkangiri SP added.
