Ranpur: A married woman, mother of two, has been on fast for two days before her paramour’s house in bid to marry him. The woman has deserted her husband and children, allege the villagers.
The incident was reported from a village under Ranpur police limits in Nayagarh district. The police have failed to take any action in this regard despite repeated complaints.
“We have informed the police about the plight of the woman, but they are not doing anything,” said a local.
According to sources, the woman, Mamali Jani, 24, of Duburigarh was married to Prabhat Jani of Akhupadar eight years back. The couple has a seven-year-old daughter and a two-year-old son.
However, the woman recently developed a clandestine relationship with a youth of Karadapali in the neighbourhood. After coming to know of the affair, her husband Prabhat reportedly beat her up in an attempt to reform her.
But the woman continued to meet her paramour. Disgusted, her husband assaulted her once again after which she left her family and has been staging a hunger strike at the house of her boyfriend who is not ready to accept her.
Interestingly, the relatives of the man are also not ready to accept the married woman as their daughter-in-law.
