Kendrapara: The Kendrapara Town police produced Tito alias Sheikh Usman Ali Monday in the SDJM court after his two-day remand ended.
The police had taken Tito in two days of remand last Saturday for interrogating him in connection with the murder of Bhubaneswar-based Gupta Power Infrastructure Limited (GPIL) site manager, Debashis Sahoo, December 21, 2017 at Chakoda in an attempt to extort Rs 10 lakh from GPIL.
The Marshaghai police took Tito Monday on a day’s remand to interrogate him about his involvement in the murder of Rajkishore Behera after the SDJM court allowed it.
Rajkishore Behera, 27, the son of Arjun Charan Behera of Dhaniapada, was shot dead April 24, 2015, by motorbike borne miscreants near Khajurimaliaghai while he was returning from Tikhiri Chowk on his bike.
Rajkishore was killed due to a gang war. Marshaghai police had registered a case. Recently, the Marshaghai police reopened the case following Tito’s involvement in the case.
Marshaghai police Monday filed a petition in the SDJM court to take Tito on a day’s remand and the court allowed the police to take Tito, said Rajib Lochan Panda, the SDPO.
Meanwhile, two STF personnel led by Bilasini Nayak visited Kendrapara district. The STF personnel gathered information on the tenures of the SP, Collector, SDPO and sub-collector from 2014 to 2018.
The STF also visited the sub collector’s office and collected information on who were the officials who provided sand sariyats to Tito.
The STF also conducted inquiries in STF case No 10/2018 in Kendrapara. Gobinda Chandra Mohanty, a resident of Fatehpur under Kujanga PS, Sarojini Mishra and others of Golden Land Development lodged an FIR with STF, alleging that Tito and his associates forcibly occupied 36 gunthas worth of Rs 1.44 crore by the side of NH-5 (A) near Gopa Chowk and stacked sand and chips. They said they were threatened with a pistol when they protested.
The STF registered a case against Tito, Kamalakanta Chaini, Muna, Tito, Sappo, Dilsad Ali, Chitto, Bapu, Fazaz khan and 15 others in this connection.
