Bhubaneswar: There are massive irregularities in Ravenshaw University, Higher Education department additional secretary Prashant Kumar Das told the media here Thursday.
“There are massive irregularities in several matters. During investigations, it was found that the university authorities had purchased computers worth Rs 95 lakh without floating tenders in 2014-15 fiscal. Besides, there are gross violations in the appointment of teachers in 2015-16 academic year in which contractual lecturers were directly appointed as Readers. In 2017-18, direct appointment was given to contract lecturers without issuing any advertisement,” he said.
Das said there were gross irregularities in the tour expenses of the Vice-Chancellor. “The VC availed monthly tour expenses of Rs 40,000,” he added.
The additional secretary said he would submit his probe report to the government within a week.
Following allegations of rampant irregularities in Ravenshaw University, the Governor and Chancellor of the University, Ganeshi Lal, had directed the Higher Education department to order a high-level probe. Following the directive, the department asked the additional secretary to probe the matter.
