Mathili BEO asks for ‘bribe’, audio goes viral

Malkangiri: Even as the state government has introduced 5T mantra to ensure good governance, an audio allegedly of Mathili block education officer (BEO) Gourishankar Dash asking for bribe for distribution of school uniforms has gone viral.

According to sources, district education officer Ramesh Chandra Sethi has conducted a probe in this regard and submitted his report to District Collector Manish Agarwal. Based on this, the Collector has recommended stringent actions against the accused BEO.

The BEO allegedly asked for percentage (PC) to Temurupalli ex-CRCC (Cluster Resource Centre Coordinator) Manoranjan Jena, which went viral. Many such allegations of corruption had been previously leveled against him.

Giving his views on the issue, Dash said, “I have never had any such talk with anybody. This is a false allegation framed against me.”
