Cuttack: A day after the declaration of Plus II examination dates by the CHSE, the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) Friday declared the annual High School Certificate (HSC) examination dates.
The matriculation examination will be held from February 22 to March 8, 2019, BSE president Jahan Ara Begum said.
Along with HSC exams, the examination for State Open School Certificate, Madhyama Sanskrit and Class IX vocational examinations will be held simultaneously from February 22 next year.
There will be four parallel sets of questions in both objective and subjective formats. The students will have to secure a minimum of 15 marks each in subjective and objective format, said Begum.
BSE officials said the matriculation examination will be held at various examination centres across the state from 9am to 11:30am, while the students will get 15 minutes more for mathematics subject.
Though the last date for the filling up of application forms is December 13, the deadline has been extended till December 15.
Once all the applications are received, the work on constituting squads, identification of examination centres will begin. This time we will put more stress on smooth conduct of the examination, said Begum.
Taking stern note of last year’s incident, where question papers were circulated on social media, BSE has decided to strictly warn invigilators not to carry mobile phones into the examination centres. Besides, the proposal of installing CCTV cameras inside the examination centres is also being considered.
Talking about the examination schedule, Controller of Examinations, BSE, Nihar Ranjan Mohanty, said the first language (Odia) will be held February 22, followed by English (second language) February 25, Hindi (third language) February 27, Sanskrit (third language) February 28, Mathematics March 2, General Science March 6 and Social Studies March 8.
Earlier, the CHSE declared the dates of the Plus II exam Thursday; the exam will start March 7, 2019.
This year 5,90,363 students had taken the matric examination, which was held from February 23 to March 8. A total of 4.28 lakh students (76.23 per cent) students have passed the exam in 2018.
