Bhubaneswar: Candidates who sat the Class X examination are upset over the failure of the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) to publish results on time although the CBSE has declared results of Class X and XII examinations.
When contacted, BSE president Jahan Ara Begum said Tuesday Matriculation results would be declared between May 15 and May 21. However, BSE secretary Ramasish Hazra clarified that the results scheduled for publication May 14 had to be put off due to devastating cyclone Fani. The results will be out by May 21, 2019.
“Publication of results slightly got delayed because of complete breakdown of power and telecom connectivity in the state due to the devastating storm’’, he added.
Notably, the BSE had released Class X results of 2018 May 7 last year.
As many as 5,87,720 candidates appeared for the examination at 2953 centres beginning February 22 until March 8. Evaluation of the answer sheets started March 25 and completed by April 7 at 60 evaluation centres across the state.
Last year, the pass percentage of SSC exams was 76.23 per cent. The open school candidates, however, registered a pass percentage of 41.93. As many as 36 schools had registered zero results.
