Mayurbhanj: Admin all geared up

Baripada: The administration has braced itself up for the elections in Mayurbhanj. Polling will be held in the 2,123 booths here April 29 during the fourth phase of elections.

Collector Vineet Bhardwaj held a meeting of all Returning Officers and Nodal Officers of all departments at the Collectorate Wednesday.

Public Observer Gopal Sharma, Police Observer Heromath Sudhir Jaliya, LS seat Expenditure Observer Aman Pital and the Expenditure Observers in Assembly seats Sashi Kajal, Durgesh Salunke, Manmohan BR and SP Abinash Kumar attended the meeting.

The administration laid stress on taking effective steps to ensure free, fair and peaceful elections April 29.

The officials discussed guidelines and measures pertaining to the conduct of elections and ensuring basic facilities like drinking water, electricity, solar lights, wheel chairs and tricycles for the differently-abled at the booths.

The EC has provided 5,000 to 6,000 EVMs and VVPATs, 13,962 polling personnel, 260 sector officers and 104 micro observers for the polling.

Web casting will be done in 238 booths and CCTVs will be installed in all booths. The authorities have identified 138 booths as sensitive and 48 as hyper sensitive.

Elaborate security arrangements have been made in booths located in areas bordering Jharkhand and West Bengal.
