Baripada: An inter-ministerial team of NITI Ayoga came to Mayurbhanj for a two-day visit Wednesday to take stock of irrigation projects in the district.
The team was led by Jogeswar Ashok Roundal, Assistant Commissioner in the Union Agriculture Ministry. He was accompanied by the Assistant Director of Land Reformation Bysadev Nayak and other officials. They inspected small, minor, lift and mega irrigation projects in the district.
The team inspected the check dams at Kambhira, Haladia and Dushiashola, the Naupala cluster lift irrigation project at Baripada, Purunnapani water harvesting project, the Hinjili mega irrigation project in Bangiriposi, Nischinta mega lift irrigation project, the Kundulia check dam, the Banki cluster bore well in Karanjia, the horticulture plantation farm in Rairangpur, MGNREGS projects at Baghiatangara and the Luhashila check dam.
After the field visits, the officials held a meeting with officials of line departments at the office of Collector Vineet Bhardwaj and held talks on irrigation projects.
The Collector told the officials farmers are being provided help and subsidies in sectors as varied as agriculture, horticulture, fishery, animal husbandry and allied activities under various schemes.
The central team laid stress on organising skill training camps and workshops for farmers under the supervision of the district administration.
After the visit, the Central team will submit a detailed report on irrigation projects and other sectors to the Centre.
Irrigation Department Executive Engineer Loknath Mohanty, the Executive Engineer of minor, lift and watershed projects, district agriculture deputy director, deputy director of Horticulture, officials of the Fisheries Department, district planning committee and the district emergency officer attended the meeting.
