Khunta: A youth from Satapautia village under Khunta block in Mayurbhanj district is reportedly missing after the devastating glacier burst in Uttarakhand.
The missing youth was identified as Parshuram Hansda, 41, son of Rabindranath Hansda of the village. He was working as an electrician for the last three years in Rishi Ganga Power Project in the Himalayan state after completing his ITI course. His family members said he is incommunicable since the fateful day February 7.
He was scheduled to return home February 15 but before that he went missing after the natural disaster. This has pushed his family members into distress as they met the District Collector in Baripada and pleaded with him to take measures for his safe rescue.
Earlier, Nagarjuna Das of Kuda village under Chandbali block in Bhadrak district was reported missing after the glacier burst in Uttarakhand.
So far, 32 bodies have been recovered from different places in the avalanche-hit areas of Chamoli of which eight have been identified while 174 people are still missing, the State Emergency Control Centre in Dehradun said.
More than 600 Army, Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) personnel are engaged in the search-and-rescue operations.
