Bhubaneswar: The Mahanadi Bachao Andolan (MBA) Wednesday said that there is a need for a detailed discussion on Mahanadi water dispute issue before the state government presents its views in the Mahanadi Water Dispute Tribunal, which is scheduled to hear the case December 15, 2018.
In a press release, the MBA said that Chhattisgarh government should stop construction of the ongoing dams on the river and ensure that newly built dams do not become functional until the tribunal order.
MBA spokesperson Prasanna Bisoyi said that there was a need for a thorough discussion as to how the natural habitat, biodiversity and environment of the largest river of the state would be affected by Chhattisgarh’s moves.
