Bhubaneswar: The first round of provisional admission into MBBS and BDS courses in eight medical colleges has started in the state Thursday.
While separate dates have been allotted for each of these medical colleges, the admission will continue till July 10.
According to Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE) authorities, the admission into MBBS seats has begun at SCB Medical College in Cuttack.
As per the schedule, admission in MKCG Medical College in Berhampur will begin July 6 followed by Veer Surendra Sai Medical College and Hospital (VSSMCH) at Burla July 7, SLN Medical College, Koraput and PRM Medical College, Baripada July 8, Government Medical College, Balangir and Government Medical College, Balasore July 9 and Hi-Tech Medical College, Bhubaneswar July 10.
Similarly, admission into BDS courses will be held at SCB Dental College, Cuttack July 7 and Hi-Tech Dental College, Bhubaneswar July 10.
After completion of the first round, students will join their respective institutes by July 12.
Out of 1300 MBBS and BDS seats, 15 per cent belongs to the All India quota.
The number of vacant seats including quota seats will be published July 24 after which the students can go for choice filling and locking July 24 and 25.
The second round of seat allotment will be done July 26. Provisional admission in this round will be held between July 27 and 30.
In case of any vacancy after second phase admission, OJEE will conduct spot counselling for which admission will be held between August 4 and 8.
Regular classes for the academic session 2018-19 will begin from August 1.
