Md Rafi remembered

Bhubaneswar: Commemorating the 38th death anniversary of legendary playback singer Mohammed Rafi, a musical concert Tum Mujhe Yun Bhula Na Payoge was organised by Geet Tarang at Soochna Bhavan here Tuesday.

During the event the Geet Tarang Award was conferred to Pranab Kishore Patnaik, M Shimadri and Sharada Prasan Sahu.

Sneha Manjari Das, secretary-cum-managing trustee of Geet Tarang, said, “Through this event we are paying homage to the late legendary singer. Decades may pass but even after ages Rafi saab’s name will reverberate in the ears of the posterity.”

“Who can forget his Kya Hua Tera Vaada or the romantic number Tareef Karu Kya Uski or the peppy track Baar Baar Dekho? Rafi saab’s songs will remain in perpetuity!” Das exclaimed.

Mohammed Rafi remains country’s one of the greatest singers who lent his voice to megastars including Amitabh Bachchan, Shammi Kapoor, Dharmendra and Dev Anand. Rafi died of a heart attack in Mumbai July 31, 1980. He was honoured with the prestigious Padma Shri in 1967.
