Medical officer of CHC in Malkangiri arrested on ‘graft charge’

Malkangiri: Vigilance officials Monday arrested a medical officer of the Padia Community Health Centre (CHC) in Malkangiri for his alleged involvement in bribery.

The accused has been identified as Dr Panu Charan Mandal.
According to sources, the Block Programme Manager of the CHC Srimant Atibudhhi had demanded a bribe of Rs 20,000 from Rakesh Chandra Das who had provided an SUV to the hospital on rent. The bribe amount was given by Das for sanctioning his rent amount.

Das lodged a complaint at the police station, based on which, the Vigilance Department laid a trap. October 20 Srimant Atibudhhi was caught red-handed by the vigilance officials.

During questioning the vigilance sleuths came to know that CHC medical officer Mandal was also involved in this case.

Following this they arrested Mandal Monday.

A case has been registered against Mandal by the cops. He will be court forwarded after legal procedures by the vigilance officials.
