Kendrapara: A medicine dealer was shot dead, Wednesday by unidentified miscreants near Manikunda Chowk in Marshaghai block under Marshaghai police limits of Kendrapara district Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as Gagan Sahu of Manikunda village.
According to locals, Gagan was going to Kendrapara from Manikunda in the morning. However, two bike-borne miscreants opened fire on Gagan who was also driving a two-wheeler. The miscreants then fled the spot.
Locals on spotting a profusely bleeding Gagan got him admitted to the Kendrapara District Headquarters Hospital (KDHH), where he succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment.
Meanwhile, a manhunt has been launched to nab the miscreants. The exact cause behind the incident is yet to be ascertained, police have initiated a probe into the incident. However, sources said that previous enmity between Gagan and another medicine trader cannot be ruled out.
