Keonjhar: Despite the fact that, Nibedita Mohanta of Hatikucha village of Naugaon panchayat under Sadar block in Keonjhar district became blind in her childhood days, she still nursed the ambition life to educate poor and destitute children in her life.

Nibedita dreamt of showing the poor and needy students the ‘light of knowledge’ despite living in dark herself.
The Keonjhar girl who completed her B.Ed degree also succeeded in the Odisha Teacher Eligibility Test, after her graduation in 2017 with 73% marks. She had to pursue private teaching after not bagging a government job despite qualifying for it.
Nibedita’s father Benudhar Mohanta is a marginal farmer and mother Damayanti is a home maker. She has two siblings. However, the decision of the state government which restricted appointments amid COVID-19 outbreak has shattered her hopes of brighter days ahead.
The girl has studied in premier state institutions like Ramadevi Women’s University Bhubaneswar and Nalini Devi Women’s College of Teacher Education. Owing to her blindness, she has decided to stay unmarried.
On learning of her plight, local villagers have appealed Keonjhar district administration to extend their support to Nibedita by helping her find a government teacher job.
