Bhubaneswar: A two-day Rakhi pop-up exhibition by Melange was inaugurated on Friday at a city hotel in Bhubaneswar. Around 50 stalls were set up with various lifestyle products including designer Rakhis.
The first day of the exhibition witnessed a heavy footfall, with women buyers outnumbering men to buy gifts for their sisters. Right from designer dresses to designer fashion and temple jewellery has drawn huge crowds.
Home décor stalls were interesting as the display area was full with fine terracotta as well as home needs like utensils, pressure cookers, water bottles, etc.
Gift wrapping covers were also available for the first time. Neeta Saraf from Jaipur designed each potli, dresses, sarees with gota work. She even has Victorian Rakhis at display which are a hit with the buyers.
Nisha Javeri, a regular buyer at Mélange, found the Rakhis with Lumba combination quite interesting. She bought at least ten pairs of Rakhis for her brother and cousin brother. Interacting with Orissa POST, Nisha said, “I personally had been looking for an exhibition like this and Melange has a great collection of Rakhis as well as of diverse gifts all under one roof. This kind of arrangement puts an end to my search for Rakhi celebration.”
However, Smruti Baral, resident of Unit 2 felt that the prices were quite high and the products were more suitable for the typical North Indian buyers. “It doesn’t cater to the typical local tastes,” she said.
The best part of the lifestyle exhibition was hand-made cakes that attracted foodies.
