Mess in healthcare at Remuna CHC

Remuna: Tension flared up at Remuna CHC in Balasore over the continued mess in healthcare system.

Angry over absence of doctors, relatives of a patient went on a rampage at the CHC late Friday night and vandalised CCTV camera. The outdoor gate was locked, a report said.

The report said, the hospital does not have necessary doctors while some doctors are coming to the CHC from the district head quarters hospital on deputation.

Dr Ramachandra Kishsu has to face severe work pressure with patients thronging the hospital day and night.

Upset over work pressure, Kisku had taken leave for three days.

From October 1, no doctor is on duty at the hospital. A large number of patients have to return frustrated every day.

Harihar Das, a BP patient from Athantara, was rushed to the hospital October 2. As no doctor was there to at the hospital, he had succumbed hours later.

In another case, Lambodar Das, a resident of Mandarpur, was taken to the CHC Saturday. As no doctor was available, his relatives vented their anger and damaged a CCTV camera.

They also vandalized outdoor windows and then locked the outdoor gate. IIC Subhransu Sekhar Nayak rushed to the CHC along with a platoon of police force. Police started an investigation into the matter this morning.

Following a directive from the CDMO, outdoor service was resumed.
