Bhubaneswar: India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued Nor’wester alert for western Odisha districts for three days, beginning Friday afternoon. Dense fog was witnessed in Bhubaneswar and adjoining areas Friday morning.
In a release, the Bhubaneswar Met office said a trough line at 0.9 km above the mean sea level runs from a cyclonic circulation over east Rajasthan and adjoining north-west Madhya Pradesh to north interior Karnataka across Madhya Pradesh and Marathwada.
Under its influence, light to moderate rain or thundershower is likely to occur at one or two places in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Angul, Bargarh, Sonepur, Bolangir, Nuapada, Kalahandi and Nabarangpur districts and thunderstorm with lightning at one or two places in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Balangir and Nuapada districts February 16.
Besides, Jgatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Cuttack, Kendrapara, Jajpur and Bhadrak districts are likely to witness dense fog during this period, the release said.
This apart, light to moderate rain or thundershower is likely to occur at a few places in north Odisha. Thunderstorms accompanied with hail and lightning are likely to occur in Deogarh, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal and Mayurbhanj districts while thunderstorms are expected in the remaining districts of north Odisha and Kalahandi, Kandhamal and Boudh districts of south Odisha in the subsequent 24 hours February 17.
