Milk adulteration unit busted in Jagatpur

Manguli/Jagatpur: The twin city Commissionerate Police, along with the health wing of Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC), busted a unit engaged in producing adulterated milk and related products, officials said Monday. The unit’s owner Pradipta Kumar Parida has been arrested, they added. Acting on a tipoff, a joint team comprising Additional DCP Anil Kumar Mishra, ACP (Zone I) Arun Kumar Swain, Jagatpur inspector in-charge Om Prakash Mohanty and CMC health officer Satyabrata Mohapatra raided the unit near Baragodia Atoda Square here.

During the raid, it was discovered that milk, curd and lassi, which were marketed in the name of ‘Rohini’ brand, were not just manufactured at the unit under unhygienic conditions but also adulterated with chemicals like sodium hydroxide, salt and contaminated water, Mohapatra said.
