Bhubaneswar: Industries, Skill Development and Technical Education Minister Sampad Chandra Swain attended an interactive session with young entrepreneurs from Coimbatore and Bhubaneswar at IDCO auditorium here, Thursday. Speaking on the occasion, Swain said, “Odisha is a potential destination for entrepreneurs from Coimbatore for setting up expansion units, specifically in the textiles and apparel sector and the engineering goods sectors.” “Apart from offering best-in class policy incentives under Industrial Policy Resolution 2022 and Odisha Apparel and Technical Textile Policy 2022, the state offers strategic advantages in terms of availability of skilled manpower, large markets for the products, and world-class infrastructure,” he added.
Highlighting the ‘Skilled in Odisha’ programme, the minister said, “With top-tier engineering colleges, an efficient ITI ecosystem, and the new World Skill Center, developed in partnership with the Asian Development Bank and the Institute of Technical Education and Educational Services, Singapore, the state is emerging as the Skill Hub of the East.” The meeting provided a platform for delegates to explore the benefits of expanding operations to the state and leveraging the state’s robust infrastructure and skilled workforce. Senior officials from the department were also present at the meeting.
