BHUBANESWAR: Renowned miniature artist Satya Satyanarayan Moharana has crafted a miniature art on Lata Mangeshkar on a banana on the eve of International Women’s Day.
It took around one hour for him to create the art piece. It is 2 inches in height and 1.5 inches in width. Hailing from Soroda village near Behrampur, Satyanarayan was born in an artisan’s family to Subash Chandra Maharana and Subasini Maharana.
Interacting with Orissa Post, Maharana said, “As women’s day is being celebrated across the globe, I was pondering upon something unique. I came up with the idea of making a miniature statue of eminent singer Lata Mangeskar. The second one is just a reflection of a common woman.”
The endeavour was not a piece of cake though. “Initially, I was unable to do it on a banana. It was a pain sticking affair. However, I was able to finish up in time. Through my art, I salute the female brigade of our country and across the world.”
Apart from Moharana, there are a few miniature artistes in the state. Along with them, Moharana is striving to preserve the art form from passing into oblivion.
