Berhampur: The miniature artist of Berhampur town Satya Maharana is in the news once again, on the occasion of Ganesh Puja, by making a chalk idol (1.5 mm in height) of the Lord.
Earlier, at different times, he had made several miniatures from wood, clay and paper, which had earned him fame. This time, he has beaten his own previous record with the idol of Ganesh.
He had created a miniature idol (3 mm in height) of the deity from a piece of chalk in 2017 and became popular. Along with this, he has also made a statue of Ganesh riding rath and his vaahan mouse pulling it, using biodegradable waste materials like paper and old rakhi (7 inches in height, 3 inches in width and 10 inches in length).
“I have always tried to create awareness among the people towards making our environment pollution free through my miniature craft-works”, the artist said. This is perhaps a unique way to draw the attention of masses and persuade them, he added.
