Bhubaneswar: As per an earlier direction, all ministers have submitted their monthly progress reports regarding implementation of the BJD’s election manifesto to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
Sources in the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) said all the 11 Cabinet Ministers and the nine Ministers of State (MoS) have submitted their reports for the month of June to the Chief Minister. As July 7 is Sunday, the ministers submitted it Saturday itself.
Tourism and Odia Language, Literature & Culture Minister Jyoti Prakash Panigrahi said he had submitted his report after holding a review meeting.
“I have submitted my departments’ progress report to the CM. He has been apprised of the progress made during the last one month. We have also mentioned our future plan of action in it,” Panigrahi said.
In its election manifesto, the BJD had promised to engage women self-help groups
(SHGs) and to set up district tourism councils. Whatever steps have been taken in this regard has been informed to the Chief Minister, he said.
“The women SHGs will be engaged to carry out cleanliness programmes at tourist spots, small hotels and other places. We will follow whatever suggestions the CM will give,” he added.
Science & Technology Minister Ashok Chandra Panda said, “It is a good step. This will increase our accountability.”
Naveen had asked his ministers June 4 to submit monthly reports on steps taken by their departments for implementing the BJD’s election manifesto by the seventh of every month. At its first meeting held
May 29, 2019 the new Council of Ministers had adopted the Biju Janata Dal’s election manifesto as the state
government’s programme for the next five years.
