Bhubaneswar: Odisha School & Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash paid a surprise visit Wednesday to the Block Education Office (BEO) in Balianta. He did so to find out whether the office was functioning properly. However, what he saw completely shocked him.
The minister when he visited the BEO at around 10.40am, found only two employees present. The reporting time for all employees is 10.00am. Peeved at the development, Das instructed the chief officer of BEO to mark the late employees as absent and deduct a day’s salary from their monthly emoluments. He has show-caused the errant employees and asked why disciplinary measures should not be taken against them.
Das also has asked the employees of the BEO to visit the schools and find out whether classes are being conducted on a regular basis and that the standard of teaching is proper. Das also scrutinized some of the documents at the BEO.
Later, Das visited the UP School in Nuapatna and Pratap Sasan High School, where he checked the attendance of teachers and interacted with the students.
